There are several built in accessibility features available for free in iOS devices(iPhone/iPads). Follow the steps below in order to access options like:
- Text to Speech
- Word Prediction
- Dictation
Text to Speech
Step 1: You will need to enable the text to speech features in your iOS device.
Follow the steps outlined in the slides below to turn on text to speech (these steps are for iOS 13; if you have iOS 12, please refer to the steps outlined here iOS12 Text to Speech).
Step 2: Once enabled, you will be able to hold your finger over any text presented to you on your device and have it read aloud to you.
Word Prediction
Step 1: You will need to enable the word prediction feature in your iOS device.
Follow the steps outlined in the slides below to turn on word prediction (these steps are for iOS 13; if you have iOS 12, please refer to the steps outlined here iOS12 Predictive Text).
Step 2: Once enabled, you will be able to use word prediction anytime you are typing in your iOS device whether it be to write an email or write in an app like Google Docs, Microsoft Word or Pages.
Dictation
Step 1: You will need to enable the dictation feature in your iOS device.
Follow the steps outlined in the slides below to turn on dictation (these steps are for iOS 13; if you have iOS 12, please refer to the steps outlined here iOS12 Voice Recognition).
Step 2: Once enabled, you will be able to use dictation anytime you are writing in your iOS device whether it be to write an email or write in an app like Google Docs, Microsoft Word or Pages.
