What’s OCR? It stands for Optical Character Recognition. OCR allows teachers or students to convert different paper documents into a digital PDF version that can then be used with assistive technologies, for example, to read the text out loud.
So how can you scan a paper document using OCR? There are two excellent options available to teachers and students in our schools:
- Use the school photocopy machine
- Use a mobile OCR scanning app on a school ipad or a BYO device
Want to know how to do this easily?
See the Scanning for Accessibility Guide for step-by-step instructions, using whatever technology you have available in your school!
